The Worli Bay

Worli is one of the busiest office areas in Mumbai, with major companies having properties here. Worli is a part of South Mumbai bounded by the Arabian Sea to the west and the neighborhoods of Haji Ali to the south, Mahalaxmi to the east and Prabhadevi to the north.

The Haji Ali Dargah is located on an islet off the coast of Worli.

Mahalaxmi neighbourhood of Mumbai is famous for the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, a horse racing track spread over approximately 225 acres of open land.

Prabhadevi is a small up-scale neighbourhood of Mumbai, it is a thriving residential district with high-rise buildings built in recent years.

Ashokan Edict No. IX

This basalt stone was found at Nalla Sopara in Mumbai. While this basalt stone is about 65 million years old, Emperor Ashoka had in his ninth edict engraved in Brahmi script on this stone about 2250 years ago. The edict asks for proper treatment of slaves, and servants, reverence to teachers, restraint of violence towards living creatures and liberality to priests and ascetics.

… was part of a ruined Buddhist establishment situated in one of the large mounds extending over 30 acres of land to the north of the present town of Mirpurkhas , today the city capital of Mirpurkhas district in the Sindh province of Pakistan.

The bricks found at the site are of various patterns and fine workmanship. Being stylistically akin to similar remains from the Gandhara region, the influence of Greek decorations in ornamental details was apparent.
